Are we having an effect yet? March 25, 2008 - Town of Hempstead Public Hearing.
In what is possibly the first organized public statements made by a civilian
group to a government agency in regards to the Lighthouse Project, 3 members of
LILHPEDA got up and spoke at the hearing.
Nick G,
Ken H, and
Bob Z
spoke with passion about their feelings on the project. They also
communicated with the town board of LILHPEDA's goals and mission. Click on
the individuals names above to read their recollection of the evening's events. Jan 19, 2008 - Town of Hempstead Night at the Nassau Coliseum. Effect? Perhaps we did. The New York Islanders sponsored a Town of Hempstead night. The evening was supposed to start with Kate Murray, the Town of Hempstead Presiding Supervisor, dropping the ceremonial game puck between the two team's Captains. She cancelled within days of the launch of this website and the creation of the Lighthouse Supporters group. What we have learned is that because of our group the town needed to review their options because a citizen's group is finally organized. |
