What We Want

What Can You Do?

We are a group of Long Islanders that share the common bond of a love for  New York Islanders Hockey.

We look forward to the upgrade of the arena that will vastly enhance the hockey experience on Long Island for the fans and will also increase the attraction of high caliber players in the future.

We look forward to the additional jobs, benefits and exposure that this project will bring to Long Island for years to come.

The Lighthouse project will give Long Island the much need identity of something far beyond just a shadow suburb of New York City or the place where you go to the beach.  As a township that is larger than six states, quite frankly, we deserve this.

We want Kate Murray to set the timeline and agenda that will set in motion the approval process and hearings for the Lighthouse project.

We want to see the Long Island Lighthouse Project approved by the Town of Hempstead and Nassau County immediately.  We feel that the coliseum portion of the project should commence during the Summer of 2008.  We want the increase in jobs for our community and the tax revenue that the Lighthouse Project will bring.

We also request that the above organizations aide the project as much as possible during post approval operations.  We will act as a third party interested entity to ensure that progress is made on a continuous basis.

We understand that this whole process is more of a marathon than a sprint.  We understand that there are current laws on the books that need to be followed.  We will monitor "snags" in the system and when required we will ask for waivers to be signed or laws to be changed.  This isn't all about just getting a new arena for the New York Islanders but making sure it is done right.

We will act in a positive manner as long as we feel forward progress is being made.  Any and all laws that need to be amended should be changed immediately so that this project can move forward in a legal manner.

We want The Lighthouse to be the focal point on Long Island for both national and international events.

Join us at the Tuesday, March 25th Rally outside the Town of Hempstead Headquarters at 7:00PM for the Town of Hempstead public hearing to show your support for The Lighthouse Project.  We will be doing what we are calling a Rally Recon for future operations.
